Barcelona recovered from an early setback to beat Sevilla 3-1 at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán on Saturday night, extending their perfect start to the 2026/27 La Liga season.
Sevilla took the lead in the 19th minute through Youssouf Fofana, but the advantage lasted only a few minutes. Raphinha equalised in the 22nd minute and then struck twice more after half-time, completing his hat-trick with goals in the 52nd and 69th minutes.
The result means Barcelona have won all seven of their opening league matches. Reuters reported that the victory moved Hansi Flick's side provisionally six points clear of Real Madrid at the time, although Madrid still had a game in hand. By the end of the weekend, Atlético Madrid had moved into second place after beating Real Madrid 2-1.
Raphinha decides the contest
The match turned on Barcelona's response after going behind. Rather than allowing Sevilla to build momentum from Fofana's opener, the visitors levelled almost immediately through Raphinha. That goal restored parity before the break and gave Barcelona a platform to take control in the second half.
Raphinha then put Barcelona ahead seven minutes after the restart before sealing the result in the 69th minute. According to Reuters, the hat-trick took him to 12 goals in seven La Liga matches this season. Lamine Yamal supplied an assist during the match, while Barcelona goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic was also called into action as Sevilla continued to threaten.

Sevilla's run checked
For Sevilla, the defeat halted a useful sequence of results. La Liga's results page shows that they had beaten Valencia 1-0 and Deportivo La Coruña 1-0 in their previous two league matches, following a 1-1 draw away to Espanyol. Barcelona therefore arrived against a side that had taken seven points from its previous three league games.
Barcelona, however, entered the fixture on a much stronger run. Their league results before the trip to Seville included a 7-2 win over Racing Santander, a 4-2 victory away to Levante and a 5-0 away win over Valencia. The Sevilla result extended that winning sequence rather than interrupting it.

Barcelona leave Seville with maximum points from seven league matches and with their strong early-season scoring form intact. The immediate significance is straightforward: another difficult away fixture has produced three points, while Raphinha's contribution continues to stand out in the opening weeks of the campaign.
Sevilla, meanwhile, take no points from a home match in which they scored first. Their recent improvement is not erased by one defeat, but the result shows the gap they still had to overcome against a Barcelona side that has started the league season without dropping a point.
